There is a no-date version of this movement called the SA3130, which is of similar quality to the SA3135; as such a better choice for a no-date 40mm submariner is the VS3130 or VR3130. But the date versions is almost as iconic and you have the added value of having a date indicator, which I do use.

I could never get used to wearing a no-date watch, as I would look at my wrist frequently, expecting the date to be there, and be frustrated to find that the watch couldn't answer my question that time either. Does anybody have any input on this issue? Is either model in greater demand than the other? Does either model hold value better than the other? I personally prefer the No Date. I get that the Date and cyclops is part of the iconic Rolex look, but I just prefer the clean, sharp, symmetrical look of the No Date.
